2018 Sir Graham Day Lecture: Human Rights – Gareth Peirce

This lecture is presented as the 2018 Sir Graham Day Lecture on Ethics, Morality and the Law in conjuncture with CBC Radio’s “Ideas: Radio for the Mind”. This year’s Sir Graham Day lecturer is Gareth Peirce, a defence lawyer whose work in the U.K. has exonerated dozens of wrongly convicted men and women. One of them was Gerry Conlon, who was part of the Guildford Four—three men and a woman who were falsely accused of the IRA bombing of a British pub in 1974. Peirce’s work led to the acceptance of the need for revolutionary changes in the English criminal justice system. View it on You Tube here.
